RMBA is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and knowledgeable Middle School English Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking in middle school students. You will guide students through the exploration of literature, writing techniques, grammar, and vocabulary, while fostering an environment where students develop the skills to think analytically and express themselves clearly and creatively. The Middle School English Teacher will play a vital role in preparing students for future academic success and cultivating a lifelong appreciation for literature and language.

Key Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Delivery & Lesson Planning: Develop and implement a diverse and engaging curriculum in English Language Arts (ELA) that covers key areas such as reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and literary analysis. Use a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Literature Exploration: Teach a variety of age-appropriate literature, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama. Guide students in literary analysis, helping them understand key themes, literary devices, character development, and plot structure.
• Writing Instruction: Instruct students in various forms of writing, including creative writing, persuasive essays, literary analysis, and research papers. Provide constructive feedback to help students refine their writing skills, focusing on organization, clarity, voice, and grammar.
• Assessment & Feedback: Regularly assess student understanding through quizzes, writing assignments, projects, and class discussions. Provide timely, constructive feedback to help students grow academically and improve their skills.
• Classroom Management: Create and maintain a positive, engaging, and respectful classroom environment where students feel encouraged to share their ideas, take risks in their writing, and ask questions. Foster a love of learning and respect for different perspectives.
• Critical Thinking & Communication: Encourage students to think critically about literature and engage in meaningful discussions. Support the development of strong oral and written communication skills, preparing students for academic challenges in higher grades.
• Parental Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, upcoming assignments, and any academic concerns. Hold parent-teacher conferences as needed to discuss student achievements and areas for improvement.
• Collaboration with Colleagues: Collaborate with other middle school teachers, including those in related subjects like history or social studies, to integrate cross-curricular projects and ensure consistency in student learning experiences.
• Technology Integration: Incorporate technology in the classroom to enhance learning, using digital tools for research, writing, presentations, and collaborative projects. Introduce students to online resources that support their development as readers and writers.
• Professional Development: Engage in professional development opportunities to stay updated on the latest teaching strategies, curriculum changes, and educational technologies to enhance classroom instruction.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (required).
• Teaching certification or license for middle school English (required).
• Proven experience teaching middle school students, with a strong understanding of English Language Arts curriculum.
• Strong knowledge of grammar, writing, and literary analysis, and the ability to teach these skills to students at varying levels.
• Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive, positive, and productive learning environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with students, parents, and colleagues.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with differentiated instruction and meeting the needs of diverse learners.
• Familiarity with various English Language Arts programs and standardized testing requirements (e.g., Common Core, state assessments).
• Experience incorporating technology into English lessons, such as using digital writing tools, literature databases, and online learning platforms.
• Ability to lead extracurricular activities related to English, such as book clubs, writing contests, or drama productions.
• Knowledge of or experience with preparing students for high school-level writing and reading expectations.
