Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee and direct the College Guidance Department for our 8th - 12th graders and their families.
• Develop a deep understanding of the universities and colleges that our students aspire to attend along with the Jewish environment that exists on/near those campuses.
• Develop intimate relationships with our students and High School teachers to fully appreciate their interests, area of focus, and ideal university/college of choice. Utilize this information to conduct guidance and counseling sessions.
• Nurture and maintain an individual relationship with the Admissions Department of the schools that our students are applying to. Be aware and up to date on each college/university’s admissions process.
• Maintain our College Guidance website in order that students and parents have access to up to date information, deadlines and resources.
• Learn and maintain up to date information with the Parchment software used to submit supporting documentation to colleges and universities.
• Conduct annual meetings with parents and students in order to guide them as they prepare for college process step by step.
• Partner together with parents and students to ensure deadlines are met, pertinent updates are provided and that students meet goals in a timely manner.
• Lead and organize courses to support students’ skill building in preparation for the college application and essay writing process.
• Support and guide teachers in the proper writing of teacher recommendations.
• Facilitate financial aid discussions between families and post-high school institutions and help families keep up with the FAFSA and other deadlines.
• Oversee the SAT and ACT testing coordinator for RMBA and keep students updated on testing dates and requirements.
• Attend College Guidance conferences to stay up to date on best practices, technology and expand your network.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience within a high school or college guidance role.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Creative, energetic, outgoing personality with the ability to inspire
• Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• A commitment to upholding and promoting the values of Robert M. Beren Academy, with a deep understanding of Jewish culture, values and traditions.
Salary:
Commensurate with experience.
